There are always great things to do in Texas. The great state specializes in great stuff to do. Here is my personal top 5 events to take in during the month of September.

September 4-6 — Labor Day Weekend

Bedford Blues and BBQ

What could be a better way to spend your Labor Day Weekend than to spend it sampling some the best BBQ cooks in the nation and some great Blues Players.  Every Labor Day Weekend, Bedford welcomes over 20,000 music and food lovers from all over the world to get their groove on. Three days of blues and rock musicians along with down home southern BBQ, the 7th annual Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival is sure to please the senses.

The event happens rain or shine. For more info. Bedford Blues and BBQ Festival

Holy Moly 30 miles of shopping. Shop for treasures in five towns across the area: Grandview, Cleburne, Sand Flat, Maypearl and Alvarado. Downtown Grandview hosts hundreds of flea market-style vendors downtown–maps are available at Pop and Gran’s Antiques. Find more vendors on the route from Grandview to Cleburne in pastures full of sales with safe and free parking (don’t park on the highway). Maypearl and Alvarado offer more downtown sales and festivities.

Most of the private landowner, independent shows ranging from simple yard sales to 100+ vendors lined up, row to row in pastures are located on Hwy 4 between Grandview and Cleburne. For more info. Antique Alley Texas

September 5 — Farmers and Fleas Market

Fresh Farm Produce available. This combination of a farmers’ market and flea market offers fresh produce, plants, food, crafts and more. Hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. In its 10th year, this Main Street project is a combination Farmers Market and Flea Market, featuring fresh produce, plants, food, crafts, collectibles, jewelry, garage sale items and more. The Market was established to assist sellers in the direct marketing of their products, and to attract customers to downtown Farmersville.  It is our version of a “trades days” market.
